Community Groups Intake
Following receipt of your booking cancellation or returned tickets, we will refund you the face value paid for the relevant tickets (or, if a discounted ticket, then instead the discounted ticket price paid), provided that reasonable cancellation charges as determined by the Event Organiser may be charged and deducted from such refund. Unless otherwise stipulated by the Event Organiser and depending on the prevailing circumstances the following cancellation charges may apply: - If the cancellation occurs more than 30 days prior to the event a 15% cancellation fee will apply; - If the cancellation occurs less than 30 but more than 7 days prior to the event a 50% cancellation fee will apply; - If the cancellation occurs less than 7 days prior to the event a 100% cancellation fee will apply; - Notwithstanding the aforesaid, if you can provide us with suitable documentary proof that a person in whose name a ticket was booked will not be able to attend the event because of his/her death and/or hospitalisation, no cancellation fee will apply in respect of the cancellation of such person's ticket.
MACHeF 5-Star Draw Raffle is a fundraising mechanism established to resource environmental restoration, arts btraining, and job creation programs for previously unemployed adults in Thembisa and surrounding communities. The raffle operates under Ubuntu values of transparency, collective benefit, and dignity. All proceeds are channeled into MACHeF's registered NPO activities of reforestation, land rehabilitation, permaculture, and skills transfer to youth and elders.
The raffle is authorised by the MACHeF Governing Body and conducted in accordance with the Lotteries Act 57 of 1997 and Gauteng Gambling Board regulations. Where required by law, MACHeF will obtain a lottery/raffle permit prior to ticket sales. No raffle will commerce without written approval from the Chairperson and Treasurer. All raffle activities must comply with SARS NPO tax requirements and CSD supplier codes.
Tickets will be sold at a fixed price determined quarterly by the Governing Body. Tickets are open to the public aged 18 years and older, except MACHeF Governing Body members and staff directly involved in the draw to avoid conflict of interest. Each ticket carries a unique serial number for audit and accountability. Sales channels include cash, EFT, and approved digital payment methods. No credit sales permitted.
Prizes are donated or purchased from raffle proceeds and must reflect "5-Star" standards of quality and community value. A full prize list with descriptions and approximate values will be published before sales begin. No cash prizes will be awarded unless permitted by law. Prize winners will be selected through a random, witnessed draw and results published on MACHeF's official channels within 48 hours.
The draw will be conducted at a date, time and venue published in advance. The draw must be witnessed by at least 2 independent community members plus 1 MACHeF Governing Body member not involved in ticket sales. The process will be recorded and documented for CSD audit purposes. Unclaimed prizes will be dealt with according to permit conditions or re-raffled after 30 days.
The Treasurer is custodian of all raffle funds. All income and expenses must be recorded in MACHeF's financial system and banked within 2 working days. A full raffle financial report will be presented to the Governing Body within 14 days of the draw and made available for CSD, DSD, or donor audits. Funds will be allocated as: minimum 50% to NPO programs, maximum 50% to prizes and operational costs, unless permit states otherwise.
Any concerns regarding fairness, ticket sales, or prize allocation must be submitted in writing to the Secretary within 7 days of the draw. The Governing Body will investigate and respond within 14 days. MACHeF commits to zero tolerance for fraud, manipulation, or exclusion. These policies are binding on all members, volunteers and partners.
