Imvelaphi Yarona is a living, breathing festival: a first annual gathering where memory and imagination meet. For three days Merafong City becomes a stage for stories, songs, tastes and hands; a place where elders, youth, artisans and entrepreneurs reweave the threads of culture into something bold and future-ready. This is not a show about the past; it is a careful, urgent making of a future rooted in heritage.

Explore eight purpose-built zones, each a window into a different way of belonging:

• Ubusha Bethu (Concert Arena): a launchpad for young artists, DJs, poets, dancers, performers and innovators.

• Pelo Yalelapa (Family Hub): a safe, supervised family space full of storytelling, play and intergenerational connection.

• Baepei (Glamping & Camping): Dedicated to glamping and camping, offers comfortable accommodation options ranging from luxury tents to standard camping spaces.

• Izimbali Nezandla (Arts & Crafts Pavilion): live craft demonstrations, artisan stalls and hands-on workshops.

• Umthambo Wesizwe (Language Hub): storytelling, language classes and oral-archive sessions that keep tongues alive.

• Tsa Lethabo (Culinary Arts & Food Court): recipe demonstrations, tasting trails and food entrepreneurship showcases and general food court.

• Indawo Yamandla (Cultural Interactive Spaces): healing circles, guided homestead builds and facilitated dialogues led by community social workers.

• Amathuba Okukhula (Entrepreneurship & Empowerment Hub): business clinics, mentoring and pathways to market for local creatives.

This festival is produced by Merafong City (its people, its makers, its young leaders) in partnership with local organisations, artisans, and Merafong City Local Municipality. Every stage, stall and session is the result of neighbourhood conversations, community labour and shared purpose: to create jobs, preserve knowledge, and hand skills forward. Come to learn, to buy, to taste, to listen and to stand with a community turning heritage into tomorrow’s livelihood.
