Red Bull Dance Mzansi Crew Battles

The Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle is a celebration of the iconic dance styles and crews that define South Africa’s vibrant cultural landscape. From Amapiano and Spantsula to Sbujwa, this ultimate street dance battle showcases the talent of Mzansi’s top dance crews. Crews will compete in a diverse range of local dance styles and challenges and the winner will be determined by both the audience and a panel of judges. 

How it works?

The competition will feature three intense rounds:

Round 1 (Showcase Round – Audience Vote)

Crews perform pre-prepped, choreographed routines to a pre-selected song. Audience voting, measured with a decibel reader, determines the best performance as well as the bracket for the next round (Top 8)

Round 2 (Battle Round – Judges Vote)

Crews battle it out and improvise to local music hits that reflect Mzansi’s sonic landscape — both familiar and unheard songs — testing the crews’ versatility. Judges’ votes will narrow down the teams to the Top 4.

50/50 Final Round – Audience Vote

In this climactic battle, the final four crews face off, and the 50/50 rule adds a twist — losing a round means losing half your crew. Audience voting, measured with a decibel reader, will determine the ultimate victor.

Audience engagement plays a vital role, with votes helping decide the outcomes in key rounds. A decibel reader ensures real-time, crowd-driven excitement. Judges will complement audience votes by assessing skill, style authenticity and battle presence.
