Phoenix

Phoenix is an African story of triumph, loss, violence and hope. Performed by the BABA YAYA senior academy students and alumni, Phoenix weaves together personal narrative, dance, word and song while still paying homage to the traditional African arts. This production embodies and expresses the triumph of the human spirit.

A dynamic creative team of musicians, choreographers, dancers and artists, blend their diverse talents in the creation of this truly unique performance experience.

BABA YAYA is an NGO and African Performing Arts academy based in Cape Town, South Africa. Formerly known as the Indoni Dance, Arts and Leadership Academy a decision was made to rebrand in 2022. Over the last 8 years the organisation has served dozens of very talented youths from extremely difficult backgrounds and circumstances.
