Killarney Motor Show

WELCOME TO THE BIGGEST MOTORSHOW IN THE WESTERN CAPE

About this event

The biggest motor show in the Western Cape is back, bigger and better than ever, and you’re invited! After an enforced absence of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are celebrating the return of the Killarney Motor Show, powered by the City of Cape Town and supported by Masterdrive, Alert Engine Parts, Wingfield Motors and Motul, on Sunday 30 October.

The fifth edition of this garden party on wheels also celebrates the 75th anniversary of motorsport at Killarney, the cars and motorcycles that have raced here through the years and the band of motorsport and car culture enthusiasts who have, over the years, created a world-class facility on what was, in 1947, a dusty, forgotten piece of wasteland alongside the old road to Malmesbury.

But more than that, the Killarney Motor Show is about looking ahead to the future. The new car dealers have their own dedicated test drive circuit, offering test drives on the latest models all day, and we host hundreds of vendors offering just about anything you can think of for your car  - and your tummy, with a huge variety of watering holes serving ice-cold drinks, sit-down eateries and takeaways!

There’s more than enough on the programme to keep you amazed and entertained from “Gates Open” at 10:00am to “Last Call” at 5:00pm, for just R100 for adults, R50 for scholars under 16 and free for children under 12, with non-stop entertainment for the whole family, and more than 2000 displays vendors and interactive experiences.,

This is arguably the most evocative show of its kind in the Western Cape, bringing together as it does the exquisite craftsmanship of the cars and motorcycles of the past, the sleek automotive offerings of the early 21st century and the unlimited ways they can be customised to reflect their owners' personality in the Show ‘n Shine and Stance section, as well as a glimpse into the future of motoring and a Sound-Off competition.

In addition to the static displays, there are numerous interactive displays ranging from test drives, passenger rides in drift cars, on “Mad Max” type vehicles, E36 Cup, Karting for hire, 4x4 activities, spinning, aerial displays a kiddies fun fair, (non-compulsory) snake shows, live music all day and lots more.

The paddock behind the Clubhouse brings together hundreds of exotics bearing names such as Porsche, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo, but you'll also see race cars old and new, as well as restored family cars from bygone days. Nothing teaches automotive history to the next generation of petrolheads like getting up close and personal with historic vehicles.

For the first time, the Show is also the end point of the annual “Truckerz Cansa Convoy” charity run; you can marvel at their sheer presence, parked around the outside of Malmesbury Sweep, meet some of the road warriors who (literally) keep this country rolling – and even donate a toy, some non-perishable food or stationery to help families affected by childhood.

And that's what the Killarney Motor Show is all about: it’s a full day of family entertainment, and it's all for real. Nearly all the vehicles on display, old and new, arrive on their own wheels, the stunts are genuine – the one thing you won't find at the Killarney Motor Show is anything virtual or simulated.
